GREEN IT

Sustainable IT – efficient, resource-saving, and future-proof

Information and communication technology (ICT) accounts for around 2% of global CO₂ emissions worldwide – roughly equivalent to international air traffic. An energy-efficient and sustainable IT infrastructure is therefore a key topic for modern IT service providers and companies alike.

exaSys has been actively engaged in Green IT for many years. For us, sustainability is not an add-on, but an integral part of our infrastructure, hosting, and cloud concepts.

Our Contribution to Green IT

Sustainable Energy

For operating the data center infrastructure we use, we rely exclusively on electricity generated from 100% Swiss hydropower. This helps reduce CO₂ emissions while covering energy demand in a sustainable way.

Energy-Efficient Cooling Concepts

By using modern hot-aisle and cold-aisle containment concepts, cooling requirements are significantly reduced. This lowers energy consumption and increases the overall efficiency of data center operations.

Heat Recovery & Reuse

Where technically feasible, the waste heat generated by IT systems is reused. This allows additional heating energy to be saved and improves the overall energy balance.

Efficient Systems & Virtualization

Modern virtualization technologies ensure optimal utilization of existing systems. Long-lasting hardware and reduced idle times enable sustainable and cost-effective operations.

Why Green IT Matters

The energy consumption of IT infrastructures continues to grow, while requirements for availability, performance, and cost efficiency are increasing at the same time. Green IT helps companies balance these demands.

Added value for companies:

  • Reduced energy consumption and lower operating costs
  • More efficient use of existing IT resources
  • Longer lifecycles for systems and hardware
  • Sustainable, future-proof IT architectures

Green IT as Part of Our Projects

At exaSys, Green IT is not an isolated topic but an integral part of our daily project work. Sustainability is already considered during the planning of IT architectures and continues throughout operation and further development.

We support our customers in designing efficient IT environments, using resources responsibly, and optimizing existing systems – regardless of whether the solution is hosting-based, cloud-based, or on-premises.

Typical services within our projects:

  • Architecture and platform consulting with a focus on efficiency
  • Consolidation and virtualization of existing systems
  • Optimization of operations, utilization, and system lifecycles
  • Support for hosting, cloud, and hybrid projects
